Local Coverage, Local Knowledge
Keeping It Cool Heating & Air is based in Kenner, and that location shapes how we work. Being centered between the airport corridor, Metairie, and the Orleans Parish line means our technicians are usually minutes rather than hours from a no-cool call, and it means we service the same neighborhoods week after week. Familiarity matters in this market: our team knows which subdivisions were built with undersized returns, which streets flood and put condenser pads at risk, and which parishes require a mechanical permit for an equipment changeout.
Jefferson Parish — Kenner, Metairie, Harahan, River Ridge, and Jefferson make up the core of our route. These are largely slab-on-grade homes with attic air handlers, where condensate management and attic heat are the recurring issues we address.
Orleans Parish — Uptown, Mid-City, Lakeview, Gentilly, Algiers, and the historic districts. Older raised construction, retrofitted ductwork, and limited equipment clearance mean installations here take planning, not just a swap.
West Bank — Gretna, Harvey, Marrero, Terrytown, and Westwego. A mix of postwar and 1980s subdivisions where duct leakage and aging package units are the most common findings.
River Parishes — Luling, Destrehan, LaPlace, and Boutte. Larger lots and longer duct runs, plus heavy humidity load from the river corridor.
Northshore — Slidell, Covington, and Mandeville. Newer, larger homes that frequently run zoned or dual systems where balancing and staging matter as much as raw capacity.
Across all of it, the standard is the same: licensed and insured Louisiana technicians, EPA-certified refrigerant handling, flat pricing quoted before work begins, and a written explanation of what we found. Start with a free written estimate or browse the full list of HVAC services we offer.
Service Area Questions
Straight answers about coverage, response times, and how service varies across the Greater New Orleans metro.
How fast can you reach my part of the Greater New Orleans area?
Our trucks are based in Kenner, which sits near the center of the metro. Jefferson Parish addresses in Kenner, Metairie, Harahan, and River Ridge are typically the quickest, with Orleans Parish, the West Bank, and the River Parishes close behind. Northshore communities such as Slidell, Covington, and Mandeville add drive time across the Causeway or I-10, so we schedule those in blocks when possible. Call (504) 762-0331 and we will give you a realistic arrival window for your address rather than a vague promise.
Do you charge a trip or travel fee for outlying communities?
Any trip charge is quoted before we dispatch, never added to the invoice afterward. Most of the metro carries our standard flat diagnostic fee. For the furthest Northshore and River Parish addresses we will tell you on the phone if a travel charge applies so you can decide before committing.
Do you offer an after-hours emergency line everywhere you work?
Yes — emergency dispatch for no-cool and no-heat calls covers our full service footprint. During a Gulf Coast heat wave, a home without cooling becomes a health risk quickly for infants, older adults, and anyone with a respiratory or cardiac condition, so we prioritize those calls. If you are waiting on a technician in extreme heat, move to the coolest room, run fans, hydrate, and call 911 for symptoms of heat illness.
Are you licensed to work in all of these parishes?
Keeping It Cool Heating & Air is a licensed and insured Louisiana HVAC contractor, and our technicians hold EPA Section 608 certification for refrigerant handling. Licensing is issued at the state level in Louisiana, so it covers every parish we serve. Where a parish or municipality requires a mechanical permit for equipment replacement or new installation, we pull it as part of the job.
Why does HVAC service differ from one part of the metro to another?
Housing stock and elevation change the work. Raised historic homes in Uptown and Bywater often have tight crawlspace duct runs and limited return air. Slab-on-grade homes in Kenner and Metairie usually have attic air handlers, where a clogged condensate line shows up as a ceiling stain. Northshore properties tend toward larger footprints with zoning or dual systems. Knowing which situation you have before the truck arrives is why local experience matters more than brand training alone.
My community is not listed — can you still help?
Often, yes. The pages above cover the communities we serve most frequently, but our coverage boundary is based on drive time rather than a fixed line on a map. Call (504) 762-0331 with your address and we will tell you honestly whether we can serve you well, and if we cannot, we will say so instead of sending a truck you would wait all day for.
